A welcome from the Rector
Welcome to St Peter’s Church!
St Peter’s church Woodmansterne is an Anglican church,
welcoming all who live in the parish (and beyond!). Our services are open to all.
We are a village church, playing a part in the life of Woodmansterne;
serving our neighbours with our resources and witnessing to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In all of our services we emphasise down to earth Bible teaching that connects with real life. Across a range of services we offer traditional and more contemporary worship.
St Peter’s is a church aiming to grow in Christian maturity and in number as we focus on ‘Discovering, celebrating and sharing life with God through Jesus Christ’.
Sunday Worship
Our services are at
8.00am, 10.30am, 6.30pm.
8.00am Holy Communion
Using Common Worship on 1st and 3rd Sundays; Book of Common Prayer on others.
10.30am Morning Worship
This is our main service in terms of attendance. We gather for Holy Communion on the 1st and 3rd Sundays.
A Family Service, with our Uniformed Organisations present, takes place on the 2nd Sunday. This is followed by coffee in the church hall and a Fair Trade stall. We worship together on the 4th Sunday, often joined by families bringing children for Baptism.
6.30pm Evening Worship
The 2nd Sunday of the month is a celebration of Holy Communion.
The 3 O’Clock Special is a service geared towards those with learning disabilities or special needs of any kind. We meet on 4 Sunday afternoons a year for a joyful celebration of God's love for us in Jesus Christ.
All are welcome to join in and experience this very special service!
Enquirers’ groups
Regular courses are offered to help people discover more about Jesus Christ and faith in him. The Start! course and Christianity Explored have recently met for this purpose in the Rectory. Check the notice sheet for news of the next course.
Bible study groups meet in homes around the parish, and a monthly midweek prayer meeting meets in Church.
Prayer walks invite local residents to tell us how we can pray for them.
A Pastoral Care team aims to help those in a time of particular need, as does a confidential prayer chain.
Other midweek groups include Mothers’ Union, the Diamond Club (for over 60’s) and a Village Lunch.
Overseas links and mission support
St Peter’s gives away 10% of its income . The principal mission societies we support are Bible Society, CMS, SAMS and CPAS. We are actively linked with the parish of St.Philip’s, Mkoba in the Gweru province of Zimbabwe.
Midweek, members of St Peter’s are also serving Jesus Christ in their workplace, in the community, in local schools, hospitals, shops and at home.
